Staff Scientist, Stanford University

Karan Bhuwalka is a staff scientist at the DoE-backed STEER group, where he analyzes techno-economic learning for batteries to identify investments and policies that can solve supply chain issues for a smooth energy transition. The objective of STEER is to guide “What to Build” by quantitatively predicting technology curves for energy technologies – starting with energy storage. Using systems analysis and learning curves to address critical questions around various technology sets, STEER seeks to enable all of us to make better technology bets – as researchers, entrepreneurs, executives, investors, government agencies, and policymakers.
