Siobhan Powell

Postdoctoral Researcher, ETH Zürich

Siobhan Powell holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University. She researches the coupled decarbonization of electricity and transportation, with a particular focus on improving the grid impacts of electric vehicle (EV) charging. In her Ph.D. she studied the roles of driver behavior, charging infrastructure networks, and smart charging in shaping EV charging demand. She led a study published last month in Nature Energy investigating the impacts of charging infrastructure policy and rate design under deep EV adoption in the Western US in 2035. At Stanford Siobhan was advised by Professor Ram Rajagopal and worked in close collaboration with Bits & Watts, GISMo at SLAC, and Professor Inês Azevedo. In September 2022 she started a position as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Group for Sustainability and Technology (SusTec) at ETH Zurich, Switzerland.
